The embroidery carries the grapevine and its leaves, evoking the hillside terraces and the abundance of the harvest. It also features the key of return, a contemporary emblem of Palestinian memory, home, and the right of return. Each piece is finished with tahriri couching, the fine cording technique of Bethlehem that raises floral and scroll motifs from the cloth. Gaza's coastal embroidery favors darker grounds and motifs drawn from the sea and orchard, worked in a restrained, elegant palette..
