Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent, or dry clean where the garment calls for it. Press water out gently rather than wringing the fabric.
Bleach and strong stain removers can fade both the base fabric and the embroidery thread. Spot-clean gently instead.
Air dry flat or on a padded hanger, out of direct sunlight. Avoid tumble drying, which can distort embroidered panels.
The embroidery thread is the most delicate part of any tatreez piece. Protecting it during ironing keeps the stitchwork crisp for years of wear.
Turn the garment inside out before ironing, so the iron never touches the embroidery thread directly. Use a low heat setting.
A thin cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric adds an extra layer of protection over embroidered areas.
