This is a hand-embroidered Palestinian thoub (thawb), made by hand using traditional tatreez (Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery). Worked on rich velvet, the luxurious ground long favored for festive and bridal pieces. It is the regal malaka style β densely embroidered with gold and metallic thread in the manner of a bride's crowning thobe. Each piece is worked with kasab metallic thread, the gold and silver cording of festive Bethlehem embroidery. Bethlehem is renowned for couching and tahriri work in silk and gold cord, producing the ornate, raised floral panels that distinguished its festive thobes. From the Treasures of Palestine collection. This is a one-of-a-kind piece; once it is sold it will not be repeated. Care: hand wash or dry clean only. All sales are final.
SKU: THB-002
Cared for thoughtfully, a handcrafted piece is meant to last generations. A few essentials for this one:
Mind the embroidery
Hand embroidery catches easily β keep the stitched panels clear of rings, watches, and hook-and-loop fastenings when dressing.
Store with care
Fold along the existing creases or use a padded hanger, and keep the piece away from direct sun and damp.

A hand-stitched thobe rarely stops being wearable β it simply stops being worn. When a piece has finished its season with you, Kanz will take it back in exchange for store credit through our thobe buy-back, or keep its tatreez alive in another form through repurposing. Each is arranged by conversation, piece by piece.
Provenance
Offered by Kanz Tatreez, hand-stitched since 2023.
