This is a hand-embroidered Palestinian belt, made by hand using traditional tatreez (Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery). Worked on kashmir, a finely woven shawl-weight cloth with a soft, warm hand. It is a traditional style, faithful to the classic tatreez of Palestinian dress. The embroidery carries fish, samak, a coastal motif of livelihood, plenty, and protection.
